To combat #periodpoverty among secondary school girls in Northern Ghana, training was held over a weekend in February 2023 and plans were made on how, in partnership with @TAG, we introduced menstrual cup as a possible solution on menstrual hygiene.

The girls themselves were controlling the project and creating a safe space for other young girls, so they could ask any questions that may arise, as the menstrual cup is a new method. But there is enough enthusiasm and zeal! Fortunately, we have good experience with us from Kenya and our two partners have already exchanged important experiences on menstrual health and new methods.

RAMCUP ROLLOUT IN ACCRA WITH DUNK

Kayaye girls in Agbogboloshie, Accra improved their knowledge of personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene management and the best use of menstrual cups during their period. It was a two days campaign to enlighten kayaye girls and advocate for abolishing taxes on menstrual products and items in Ghana.

Coordinators of the project trained 93 Kayaye girls on:

1. Menstrual hygiene management

2. How to use the menstrual cup

3. How to clean and store the menstrual cup.

Menstrual cups were distributed to help the Kayaye girls menstruate at no cost to end period poverty.

The coordinators also positively interacted with DUNK for further engagement and possible collaboration.

We anticipate achieving greater heights together.
